Password Protected Directories
What are password-protected directories? What do they mean for your site?
If you wish to keep some content concealed from the public eye, you'll be able to switch on password protection for a certain folder - either the main Internet site folder or another one below it. If this feature is activated, a pop-up shall appear every time a person attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login information will be required for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg when you have secured just the domain.com folder. If the details are not valid, a “403 Forbidden” message shall appear and there isn't any way to get around this restriction, so you can be certain that no one shall be able access the protected content. The option may be helpful in a number of scenarios - if only a few people need to be able to see particular files, if you are building an Internet site and you don't want people to see it before it is completed, and so forth.

Password Protected Directories in Shared Hosting
Setting up a password-protected area will take only a few clicks and a few seconds when you host your Internet sites within a
shared hosting account with us. You shall not need to do anything challenging - you'll need to choose a domain/subdomain, to pick which folder under it should be protected, and then to type in the login name and password that will be used to access that folder. When a number of individuals require their own login credentials, there will not be a problem to create a variety of different usernames with access to the same folder. All protected folders shall appear with a padlock icon inside the File Manager section, so you will always know where this option is activated. If you want to deactivate the security feature for any folder, you can deactivate it from the exact same section of the CP where you have enabled it.
