Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange information between a website hosting server and a client. Since the info exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of handling a website hosting account. The commands which may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, in particular, the options are limited because you won't have root access to the website hosting server, so you may just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. These are all actions which are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the option to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or only a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you don't employ a UNIX-like OS, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The VPS server offers we offer feature SSH access by default, not as an optional upgrade or a feature that you have to enable. As soon as your new server is ready, you'll be able to connect and start working on your content through the login details that you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials shall be sent to you via e mail as well. Since your VPS shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical hosting server, there are no limitations regarding what you can or cannot do via SSH. You may download, install and manage any piece of software that will run on a Linux machine, reboot the entire server or just a particular software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you'll require for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
